New Times OOH Media bids Rs 150 cr to bag Delhi Airport outdoor contract

After hectic bidding, Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd (DIAL) has awarded the licence for advertisement locations at Indira Gandhi International Airport to Times Innovative Media Pvt Ltd (TIMPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Entertainment Network (India) Ltd (ENIL). TIMPL’s winning bid was for Rs 150 crore. TIMPL operates its OOH media business under the brand name ‘Times OOH Media’.

Among the bidders for this highly fancied property were TDI, Adwell, Lakshya, JC Decaux and Serve & Volley. The licence involves designing, setting up, development and maintenance of the advertisement locations for a period of three years.

Times OOH Media would cover approximately 150 display sites inside the terminal buildings, approach roads, around the terminals as well as advertising options inside the terminal buildings and aerobridges.

Said A P Parigi, Director, TIMPL, “We are delighted to win the licence for the advertising locations at Indira Gandhi International Airport. This is the first advertising rights licence to be awarded after the privatization of Delhi airport and was keenly bid by several out-of-home media players including global players.”

Times OOH Media has recently put up two LED screens at Mumbai airport. The company has been among the leaders in introducing innovative technologies such as LEDs in outdoor advertising.

The first phase of Delhi’s airport modernisation would be ready by 2010 with the completion of a new integrated terminal building. The new terminal will cater to both domestic and international passengers and will be capable of handling 37 million passengers per annum. Prior to that, a new domestic airline terminal and a third runway to complement the existing two would be built by 2008.
