New Sahara One ropes in Sameer Ganapathy to head its distribution

Sameer Ganapathy has joined Sahara One Media & Entertainment Ltd as Head of Distribution for Sahara One Television Network, which includes channels like Sahara One, Filmy and its proposed music channel, HIT. Ganapathy has joined the company from July 18, 2006. With Ganapathy’s appointment, the organisation has filled the post, which was vacant for around 6-7 months.

Prior to taking up the new assignment, Ganapathy was with Sony-SET Discovery, where he was Regional Manager for the Western region for four years. He has also worked with Discovery for six years, wherein he was a Regional Manager.

He will be reporting to Sahara One CEO, Shantonu Aditya. Commenting on Ganapathy’s appointment, Aditya said, “I am indeed delighted to welcome Sameer to our company. Sameer has over 10 years of experience in distribution and has an excellent track record. With his joining the company, Sahara One will now focus on distribution in a major way and I am sure the results will be seen soon.”

Ganapathy said, “I am very happy to join Sahara One and take on this responsibility. Sahara One is run professionally and has a great team. I look forward to taking up this challenge and working in an excellent environment.”

Elaborating further on Ganapathy’s role, Aditya said, “He would be focusing on increasing our connectivity, increasing the connectivity of Filmy and the launch of the music channel. He will also focus on bolstering our distribution in the international markets.”

The company would be expanding its distribution team under Ganapathy within 30 days, informed Aditya.

When asked why the position of Distribution Head was not filled up for 6-7 months, Aditya replied, “There were certain other issues which we wanted to address first, now that those issues have been addressed, we felt it was the right time to focus on distribution. Distribution is going to be our priority now.”
