New One Show ’06: 32 Indian entries in the race for metal, Ogilvy leads Indian charge

The One Club has announced the list of finalists at the 2006 One Show, One Show Interactive and One Show Design competitions. The finalists were picked from over 17,000 entries from 55 countries, and include 32 from India.

Leading the Indian charge is O&M with 12 finalist entries, and the other Indian agencies in the fray include JWT (3), Rediffusion DYR (4), Euro RSCG (3), Leo Burnett (2), Saatchi & Saatchi (2), OgilvyOne (1), McCann (1), Contract (1), idiots (1), Latitude 23 (1) and ‘Abhijit’ (1).

The One Show Interactive competition did not see any entries from India making it as finalists. In the design competition, ‘Abhijit’ from Mumbai is in with a finalist nomination for Corporate Identity Campaign for Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and so is Contract’s New Delhi office for Single Poster for client ICARE. Another finalist is under Corporate Identity for client Ninad Kamat, by agency Idiots from Mumbai. Latitude 23 Communications from New Delhi is in the running for work under Self Promotion titled Recycle Paper.

Rediffusion DYR Mumbai’s work for Midland Book Shop is proving to be a head turner at award fests, and four of the entries for the client are finalists for booklet brochures (Lord of the Rings and Communist Manifesto), single (Communist Manifesto) and campaign. JWT Mumbai’s Self Promotion (Single) Work ‘Ideator’ finds itself among the best at another award fest. Leo Burnett Mumbai’s Posters for Mrs. Kapoor’s Guest House has made it as finalist too.

O&M’s Mumbai office has a finalist entry for Booklet brochure titled Effective Ogilvy 2, while sibling OgilvyOne is in the reckoning for its Poster for clients Johnson & Johnson titles Diabetes. O&M’s Delhi office has three finalists, including the Single Poster for A:Door Birds. The other two are for collateral (ORBO) and Corporate Identity for client C Roy.

The One Show competition will see four entries from O&M’s Mumbai office in the book. These include a Poster campaign for Visage Images, Newspaper / Magazine Campaign for IAPA, Newspaper / Magazine Campaign for HT 'Plant More Trees', and under Outdoor and Posters (Single) for Fundacion Vida SIlvestre titled ‘Bag’. The New Delhi office has four in here too, including Posters (Single) for Discovery Channel, Posters (Campaign) for Shipra Estate, and two for Outdoor / Posters (Single) for Seagram India titled ‘Fill in the Blanks’.

Saatchi & Saatchi Mumbai is in the thick of things again for clients P&G, with ‘Eraser’ in the Color (Less than a Page) category and ‘Corners’ in the Posters category.

Euro RSCG Mumbai has three finalist entries, all of them for clients Cancer Patients Aid Association. These are for Singles in the Newspaper / Magazine and Outdoor / Poster categories (one each), and one for the Campaign (Monsters).

Leo Burnett Mumbai’s work for Campaign Maneland Jungle Lodge has found favor with judges in Campaign (Over 600 lines) and so has McCann Erickson Mumbai’s Collateral for Sanctuary Asia. JWT is also in with a finalist in the Single (Over 600 lines) sub-category for Apollo Tyres, and also for Innovative Use of Media (Outdoor) for Door Handle for clients UB.

All entries will be featured in ‘The One Show Annual Volume 28’. Finalists will have to wait for some more time to find out whether they have gone on to win Gold, Silver or Bronze pencils.
