NEW ABC elects new Council of Management for 2005-06; Kurush Grant is new Chairman

The Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) has elected its new Council of Management for 2005-2006. Kurush Grant, Divisional Chief Executive, Tobacco Division, ITC Limited, has been elected as the new Chairman, while Shobhana Bhartia, Vice-Chairperson, HT Media Ltd., is Deputy Chairperson.

Grant has been a member of the Council of Management of ABC since 1999 and was Deputy Chairman for 2004-2005. He has been involved in the marketing of a wide range of products including many FMCG products. Grant is actively involved in ITC’s forays into foods, garments and retailing.

Grant is also Vice-Chairman of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) and Chairman of the Services Sector Sub-Committee of the CII (Eastern Region). He is on the Executive Committee of the Indian Chamber of Commerce besides being on several CII Committees.

Prem Mehta and Sam Balsara continue to hold the honorary positions of Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, of ABC for 2005-2006.

Members of the ABC Council of Management are in three sets: Publisher representatives, Advertising Agencies’ representatives, and representatives of Advertisers.

The Publisher Representatives for 2005-2006 are Shobhana Bhartia, Hindustan Times, K N Shanth Kumar, Deccan Herald, C.H. Kiron, Eenadu, Ravi Dhariwal, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., Vijay Darda, Lokmat, Shailesh Gupta, Dainik Jagran, T. Venkattram Reddy, Deccan Chronicle, and Amitabha Datta, The Telegraph.

The Advertisers Representatives are Kurush N. Grant, Subroto Chattopadhyay, Pepsi Foods, and A. K. Shukla, Life Insurance Corporation of India.

The Advertising Agencies’ Representatives are Prem Mehta (Hony. Secretary), Lintas India, Sam Balsara (Hony. Treasurer), Madison Communications, Anil Kapoor, FCB-Ulka, and Ramesh Narayan, Canco Advertising.
