National Insurance Company scouts for new agencies

Kolkata-based National Insurance Company Ltd, the second largest non-life insurance company in India, is reportedly scouting for a new panel of agencies.

While company sources are tight-lipped on the subject, it is learnt that the process that began with a newspaper advertisement inviting applications from agencies sometime in May has progressed considerably and the new panel will be finalised shortly following presentations by the agencies shortlisted on the basis of the evaluation of their applications.

Apparently, several reputed national agencies such as Lowe, RK Swamy-BBDO and FCB-Ulka are in the fray for what would be a plum media account in the Kolkata market, especially in view of the high voltage competitive activity in this growing sector.

National Insurance, which has seen major management changes in the recent past, had of late been making direct releases in the media in the absence of a valid panel of empanelled agencies.

While the empanelments this time around will be for two years, it is not clear whether this will be a full service assignment or whether the creative and media duties will be divided.
