Winners of the Pepper Awards 2013 were announced on April 12. Organised by the Advertising Club Cochin, the Awards this year saw Mudra South, Nirvana, Stark Communications and Blackbox emerge as the key winners.
Mudra South was adjudged Agency of the Year. The agency bagged the maximum number of metals at 45, which included seven Gold, 23 Silver, 15 Bronze and eight Finalist metals for the work done for its clients Peter England, Prestige, Asha Jeevan, Big Bazaar, Stanley, Miller Highlife, McDowells, Sanctuary, Fiat Club, People, PE Jeans, Denim and Indus Pride.
Vipul Thakkar, Executive Creative Director, DDB Mudra Group said, “I am quite overwhelmed by the number of metals we have won. We have with us 45 metals, which is just amazing. The boys have worked hard the entire year, so they deserve it. The quality of work is exceptional. This shows that the quality of art created in the South is going up and also well recognised.”
Nirvana took home a total of 19 metals for the work done for its clients Gems, Mahindra, Cinthol, Blackberry, VodaphoneDelite, Thomas Cook and Thakita. The agency’s metals tally included four Gold, 10 Silver, five Bronze and one Finalist metal.
Stark Communications bagged nine metals, which included one Gold, two Silver and five Bronze metals. Following Stark, was Blackbox, which bagged eight metals, including three Silver and five bronze.
Congratulating the winners, Sandeep Nayar, President, and Ad Club Cochin said, “I am proud to say that Pepper 2013 has been great. We have come up to this level only because of the team work and the association with the trust. Pepper saw participants across from the south and the variety of creative work was also high. We are planning to get bigger next year keeping in mind that we are a regional creative awards function.”
PK Natesh, Chairman, Pepper Awards 2013 said, “The quality of art has been outstanding this year across agencies and categories. There was a lot of good work this time. Next year, we are planning to be even bigger. We are happy to see fresh energy and enthusiasm amongst the younger lot.”
This year, a total of 1,100 entries from more than 80 organisations were received across 26 categories and 70 sub-categories as against 930 entries from 55 organisations last year.
A three-member jury panel comprising Prathap Suthan, Managing Partner/ Chief Creative Officer, Bang In The Middle; Raj Nair, Chief Creative Officer, BMB India; and Rajiv Raja, Founder & Sound smith, Brandmusiq judged the entries. Well-known film director and National Award winner Kamal was the chief guest at the event.
