Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation enter BARC's list of advertisers for week 46

Week 46 (November 12-18) of the BARC data saw the entry of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation with 6129 and 6120 insertions respectively, at the bottom of the list of ‘Top 10 Brands’ advertising on TV. The latter’s campaign, aimed to curb open defecation (under the Swachh Bharat Mission), was on air from November 12-18. It ran three TVCs featuring actor Amitabh Bachchan promoting the need for toilets, usage by all and triggered behaviour change by instilling pride.

Goodnight Active Plus, Vodafone Flex and Axe Signature were the other three brands, which appeared in the list. Goodnight Active Plus and Vodafone Flex stood at fourth and fifth spot with 8145 and 7729 insertions respectively, while Axe Signature claimed the eighth spot with 6403 insertions.

Airtel Cellular Phone Service continued to retain the top spot with 944 insertions for the past four weeks. The second place was taken by Fogg Scent, which moved up to second spot (from seventh) with 8676 insertions. Surf Excel Easy Wash also climbed to third spot with 8358 insertions. Dettol Liquid Soap also moved to sixth spot with 7198 insertions while Amazon.in slipped to seventh spot with 6656 insertions.

It is to be noted that from week 43, BARC has started looking at sub-brands instead of clubbing everything under the umbrella brand like it did earlier. Since then we haven’t seen the usual players such as Patanjali and Cadbury in the list.
