Meridian Bangalore, the second agency of O&M set up two years ago in one room with one client, is on a roll today. The agency has bagged the creative mandate for mobile payment company mChek following a multi-agency pitch. Though the size of the business could not be ascertained, officials at mChek said that money had never been a constraint and that they would spend what was required for effective communication.
Meanwhile, Meridian Bangalore has recently also concluded the first of a special communication initiative called ‘Clean and Green’ campaign for Bangalore International Airport Ltd.
Commenting on the mChek win, Indrajeet Mookerjee, Vice-President, Meridian Communications Bangalore, said, “It is a category creation and a new territory to get into, which offers exciting opportunities for communication. Currently, we are partnering them in strategic input and brand development.”
Navin Thangiah, Director-Market Development, mChek, said, “Meridian has the legacy of a large agency, yet it doesn’t have any trappings of a big agency and is nimble in its working. We were looking for an agency that understood the need of a start-up like ours. We are looking at acquiring more customers, which will be the primary purpose of our communication. Meridian, with the good work done in a short span, fits the bill perfectly.”
In its two years of existence, Meridian has won a host of awards and accolades. The agency has been dubbed the hottest creative agency as per Campaign Brief Asia’s ratings (2007-08). With a Clio Gold, a D&AD finalist, two One Show finalists, five Cannes finalists, two campaigns in Communications Arts, 11 finalists in The Work 2007, and two Silvers and a Finalist at the London International Advertising Awards, among others, Meridian is on the right track.
“That’s almost every coveted international award,” quipped N Ramesh, Executive Creative Director, Meridian Communications Bangalore.
The current client list includes the entire portfolio of Himalaya Herbal Healthcare, The Arvind Corporate Brand, Megamart, Mantri Developers, Structural glazers -Alufit, and now mChek.
Mookerjee informed that based purely on its impressive track record, they got to work on the project for Bangalore International Airport Ltd. He further said that the first phase of the ‘Clean and Green’, which aims at keeping the immediate surroundings of the new international airport clean and green as part of an environmental conservation initiative, had been phenomenal and they would launch the second phase soon.
Upbeat on agency’s future, he said, “We know we have the umbrella of Ogilvy, yet our strength lies in our being nimble. We are young and different, and we have nothing to lose. The road from here will only be better.”
