Megamart, the retail arm of India’s integrated textile manufacturer and a leading branded apparel maker and retailer Arvind Ltd, has assigned its creative duties for the state of Tamil Nadu to Chennai-based agency WOC. The mandate was assigned following presentations made by the agency and no pitch was called for. The creative account for the rest of the country is handled by Meridian. The account size for the Tamil Nadu business couldn’t be ascertained at the time of filing this report. Meanwhile, the company has not appointed any media partner so far.
Speaking on the win, CS Amudhan, Managing Director, WOC, said, “It is pretty big account win for us. We won the account following the presentations we had made to the client. We will be creating the brand connect for the client in its Tamil Nadu market.”
Ganesh Raman, Head - Marketing, Megamart, said, “With 16 stores in Chennai and an additional 10 stores in Tamil Nadu, the state is important for Megamart. This move is aimed so at Megamart is able to ‘think global and yet act local’ in this market. We believe WOC will be able to add better value and better connect with our customers in Tamil Nadu. WOC would also be able to help us tap local opportunities and happenings in the state from time to time. The state of Tamil Nadu currently contributes to about 20-25 per cent of our business today. With the inputs of WOC, we would look at this moving up to 35 per cent over a short time frame.”
