MediaCom bags Deccan Cargo account; makes senior level appointments

August has been a busy month for MediaCom India. The agency’s Bangalore office has bagged the business of Captain GR Gopinath’s new cargo venture, Deccan Cargo. Divya Gururaj, MD, MediaCom India, has confirmed the development. It is not clear whether a pitch was called before Deccan Cargo appointed MediaCom. Industry sources peg the business in the vicinity of Rs 8-10 crore. Grey Bangalore is the creative agency on the business.

Meanwhile, MediaCom has also appointed Anita Mookerjee as General Manager for its Bangalore office. Mookerjee joined MediaCom on August 11, 2008. Prior to this she was with the Lintas Media Group in Bangalore. Gururaj informed, “Anita was handling ITC in LMG and would be working with me.”

MediaCom Interaction is also set to witness some action. Latish Nair was appointed earlier in the month to head MediaCom Interactions. Gururaj informed, “Latish and his team would be leading MediaCom’s digital initiatives in India.” Nair is also reporting to Gururaj. Prior to this, Nair was with Publicitas Digital and before that, with Times Jobs.

As is known, MediaCom has been a GroupM agency until Sam Balsara, Chairman, Madison Communications, picked 51 per cent in the agency earlier in the year. MediaCom is now aligned with Madison World.
