McCann, O&M, DDB Mudra in Outdoor shortlist

Cannes 2012 announced the shortlist for Outdoor Lions category. A total of 22 pieces of work have been shortlisted from India.

Four entries of Leo Burnett for Bajaj Electricals’ ‘Exhaust Fans’ campaign have been shortlisted. Four entries of Brand David Communication for Soliance Pharma Products’ Peptocid Antacid Tablets campaign have made way to the shortlist. Three entries of McCann Worldgroup India for Western Union’s ‘Money Transfer’ and one entry for Saregama Music have entered the shortlist.

Apart from this, two entries of Bates Mumbai for Park Avenue’s wrinkle-free shirt campaign and one entry from Grey Worldwide India for Fujifilm India’s ‘Finepix s4000’ is on the shortlist.

Ogilvy & Mather has three shortlists in the category. One of these is ‘Chanting Lighter’ for client Cancer Patients Aid Association. The other two shortlists from the agency are for Yahoo India’s Yahoo Mail – ‘Carry Heavy Attachments’ and ‘Truck Attachment’. Three DDB Mudra entries for Shredders’ campaign and one entry from DraftFCB+Ulka for Mumbai Traffic police’s road safety campaign have been shortlisted

Sheung Yan Lo, Executive Creative Director, North East Asia; Chairman, JWT is the Jury President and Vikram Gaikwad Partner and Executive Creative Director Creativeland Asia is the Jury Member from India in the category this year.

The number of entries submitted by Indian agencies has dropped from 252 entries last year to 219 this year. Whereas overall this year, the outdoor category has got a total number of 4843 entries from 73 countries, an increase of eight percent compared to last year.

The Outdoor competition was introduced in 1992. Since 2002, the Festival has recognised Press and Outdoor as separate advertising media, awarding each their own Grand Prix and since 2006 Outdoor is judged by a separate and dedicated jury. The jury will award two Grands Prix, one for billboards, street furniture and posters, and one for ambient.

The Outdoor Lions trophies will be presented during the Creative Effectiveness, Media, Mobile and Outdoor Lions Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday evening June 19 at the Grand Auditorium, Palais des Festivals.
