McCann, Leo Burnett in Radio Lions shortlist

Cannes Lions 2012 has announced the shortlist for Radio Lions. Two entries from India have made it to the shortlist.

McCann Worldwide India’s ‘Lasky Herbal’ campaign for Plus Condoms and Leo Burnett’s ‘Punishment’ campaign for Strand Bookstore enter the final Radio Lions shortlist.

McCann Worldgroup was the only agency from India that managed to make it to Radio Lions shortlist in 2011 and win a Bronze Lion. Two pieces of work for Onida DVD Players and one for Radio Mirchi had also made it to the shortlist last year.

Rob McLennan, Executive Creative Director, Net#workBBDO is the Jury President and Rahul Jauhari, National Creative Director, Everest Brand Solutions is the Jury Member from India in the category this year.

Launched in 2005, the Radio Lions competition honours the best international creative radio advertising. The number of entries submitted by Indian agencies has dropped from 78 entries last year to 55 this year. Whereas overall this year, Radio category has got total number 1784 entries from 57 countries, an increase of 31 per cent as compared to last year. The entries will be played and their credits viewed at the interactive kiosks located at the Lions Village.

The winners will be announced on June 20. The Radio Lions trophies will be presented during the Press, Design, Radio and Cyber Lions awards ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday evening June 20 at the Grand Auditorium, Palais des Festivals.
