Mantraonline to hike Net access rates

Barely six months after the dizzy crash in Internet access rates, Mantraonline may be the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) to reverse the trend and actually hike Internet access rates.

The current average price of Internet service is around Rs 8 per hour. For an hour of Internet usage, an ISP gets only Rs 8 on average from the customer while basic service operators make Rs 24 just for the telephone connection for an hour. It is believed that other ISPs may also follow suit to increase the prices under the pressure of avoiding losses in their operations.
