Madison Media institutes internal awards, Amoeba, to motivate its teams

Madison Media is taking various initiatives to motivate its teams. Where earlier the agency had the ‘think pink’ initiative, where Madison officials were encouraged to think differently, this year the agency has launched its internal awards called Amoeba Awards. The name ‘Amoeba’ has been used to denote the flexibility of the media scene today, where nothing – from ideas to their execution – is rigid.

A two-stage judging process has been adopted. In Stage I, a set of 16 judges will choose 51 ‘nominations’ for the final Awards. These will then be judged by an external jury in two batches. The external jury comprises Shripad Nadkarni, Director, Marketgate Consulting Pvt Ltd; Bhaskar Das, Executive President, The Times of India Group; Sunil Lulla, CEO, Times Now; Raj Nayak, Chief Executive, NDTV Media; and Atul Phadnis, Chief Evangelist, Media e2e. A total of 197 entries across 11 categories, ranging from Media Research and Never-before-Used-Media to Innovation, have been received.

Said Sam Balsara, Chairman, Madison Communications, “Earlier in the year, we had launched a companywide programme – ‘think pink’ – to encourage Madison-ites to think differently and approach problems and challenges in a totally different manner. Amoeba Awards seeks to recognise and reward those Madison-ites in the Media unit that imbibed the ‘think pink’ spirit.”

Punitha Arumugam, Group CEO, Madison Media, added, “The major focus of the Awards is to encourage use of ‘other’ media in combination with TV for synergistic effect and to use TV innovatively to arrest the decline in ROI on TV investments. I am glad that the challenge thrown at Madison-ites has been met enthusiastically as seen by the number and quality of entries. I am delighted that in the eyes of the external judges we have done outstanding work consistently across all our clients.”

Team Marico at Madison has won the title of Team of the Year as well as an award for Best All Rounder of the Year. Other individual awards were won by teams handling clients like Airtel, Asian Paints, Cadbury, Coke, Essel group, Godrej, Kotak, McDonalds, P&G, Tata brands and TVS.
