Madhukar Kamath makes way for Colvyn Harris to be AAAI Prez; Nagesh Alai becomes VP

Madhukar Kamath, Managing Director & CEO, Mudra Communications, has stepped down as President of Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) at its annual general meeting held in Mumbai on November 13, 2009. Taking over from him is Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT, who has been unanimously elected as the AAAI President. Nagesh Alai, Regional CFO, Draft FCB, Asia Pacific and Africa, has been elected the Vice President.

Confirming the development, Harris said that Kamath had stepped down as he had completed his tenure.

AAAI is the official, national organisation of advertising agencies, formed to promote their industry interests so that they continue to make an essential and ever-increasing contribution to the nation. The AAAI today is a representative with a very large number of small, medium and large-sized agencies as its members, who together account for almost 80 per cent of the advertising business placed in the country. It is thus recognised at all forums – advertisers, media owners and associations, and even the Government – as the spokesperson for the advertising industry.
