The 7th M.AD Quiz, organised by the Advertising Club of Bombay on December 18, saw a dramatic end with Sun Microsystems emerging victorious. It is for the first time since the quiz show was initiated that a client participant won against media and advertising agencies. Sun Microsystems won with 17 points, followed by Leo Burnett, Bates, JWT and IMRB at second, third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Around 26 teams competed against each other in the Quiz, out of which only five managed to make it to the last round. From the client’s side there were particiapants like Yes Bank, who were also the associate sponsors of the event, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, IMRB and Sun Microsystems.
Among the popular participants were Pratab Bose, CEO, O&M; Bhaskar Das, President, The Times of India Group, and K S Chakravarthy (Chax), ex-NCD, Rediffusion DY&R, who made their presence felt in the event.
Commenting on the overall shape up of the event, Bose, who was also the chairperson of M.AD Quiz 2007, said, “The Ad Club has had a very successful year with all their events like the Emvies, the Effies, the Media Review and others shaping up very well. I think the M.AD Quiz rounds up the success the Club has achieved throughout the year. The M.AD Quiz is an initiative that brings together media and advertising agencies, including the clients, to interact on one-to-one basis and at the same time enhance their knowledge of advertising and media.”
