LIC to be title sponsor of Zee Cine Awards for second year; 8 other sponsors roped in

The sponsors for Zee Cine Awards have been finalised. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) is the title sponsor, while Pepsi and Motorola are co-presenting sponsors. In addition to that, AirTel, which is also the telecom partner, has been roped in as associate sponsor along with TVS, J&J, Jyothi Laboratories, Hygenic Research and GITS Foods. The event will be telecast live on Zee TV at 7 pm on March 4, 2006.

A repeat telecast has been scheduled for March 5 on Zee Cinema at 8 pm. Joy Chakraborthy, EVP, Network Sales, Zee, said, “We have got tremendous response from the market and signed all our sponsors within the first five days of sales. For advertisers, Zee Cine Awards has been an impact led property and rightly so. We are on international locations year-on-year and have the component of Viewer’s Choice, which brings interactivity to the awards. In all, Zee Cine Awards ensures that it has an impact on the Indian audience.”

“Just as is the case every year, the LIC Zee Cine Awards 2006 would also focus on impact on two counts, from the programming itself, which would include some of the best performances, and some innovative ways of presenting the event. The second thrust would be to market it innovatively, again bringing in audience interaction,” added Chakraborthy.

Speaking on the title sponsor, he said, “LIC was the co-presenting sponsor last year and this year, given the fact that they are celebrating their 50th anniversary, they were keen to come on board. The timing, I would say, was right as insurance advertising sees a jump towards the end of a fiscal.”

Punit Goenka, Director, Zee Telefilms, said, “Our focus to take Zee Cine Awards to the international platform is to showcase the best of Indian cinema to the world. With Zee Cine Awards, we will be able to provide the impetus for the crossover of Indian cinema to global audiences and delight the Indian Diaspora with the grandest celebration of Indian cinema.”

The LIC Zee Cine Awards 2006 will witness some scintillating performances from the biggest names in Bollywood like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, Priyanka Chopra, and Malaika Arora among others.

Meanwhile, the technical awards have already been presented with ‘Black’, ‘Paheli’, ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Bunty aur Babli’ as the notable winners.
