Leo Burnett wins Network of the Year at Epica Awards 2013

Epica, one of the most recognised awards in the advertising industry, took place in New Delhi on January 24, 2014, in association with exchange4media. The awards, being held outside Europe for the first time, brought together top international and Indian advertising professionals under one roof and showcased some of the latest and best work from across the world. The presenting sponsor of Epica was the Patrika Group and the associate sponsor was Colors.

At the Epica Awards 2013, Leo Burnett was adjudged Network of the Year with 32 awards, including nine Gold metals. Forsman & Bodenfors walked away with Agency of the Year Award and 15 metals, including three Gold metals. France topped the country rankings with 75 awards, including 17 Gold metals. The Grand Prix winners were from Denmark, Namibia, Tunisia and Turkey.

In the film category, Danish agency & Co got the Grand Prix for ‘Made From Cool’ campaign for fashion brand Jack & Jones. Namibian agency Advantage Y&R got the Grand Prix in the Press category for the Land Rover Defender. In the outdoor category, Havas Worldwide Turkey got the Grand Prix for ‘Music of the People’ image for Açik Radio. Memac Ogilvy Label Tunisia got the Grand Prix in the Interactive category for ‘Mobilizing the 12th Man’ app for football club C.S. Hammam-Lif.

Mark Tungate, Jury Chairperson, Epica said, “The Epica Awards went global two years ago after initially being European only award, so we are delighted that the ceremony can take place for the first time outside Europe and, of course, that we can come to India. We would like to thank exchange4media for hosting the ceremony.”

The Indian Creativity Hall of Fame was also held in conjunction with the Epica Awards. It recognised advertising veteran Mohammed Khan for his outstanding contribution to the development of advertising in India. Some of the other eminent speakers included Mark Tungate, Chairman, Epica Jury; Bechara Mouzannar, CCO, Leo Burnett, MENA - Middle East & North Africa; Hideto Yagi, Creative Director, Dentsu Inc; Josy Paul, Chairman & National Creative Director, BBDO India; Komal Bedi Sohal, CCO, Rediffusion Y&R; Madhukar Sabnavis, Vice Chairman and Country Head, Discovery and Planning, Ogilvy & Mather India; and Philippe Paget, CEO, Epica.

The Epica Awards were created in 1987. Having originally focused on the Europe, Middle East and Africa region exclusively, the awards became global in 2012. The main aim of the Awards is to reward outstanding creativity and help communication agencies, film production companies, media consultancies, photographers and design studios to develop their reputations beyond their national borders.
