Law & Kenneth, Delhi bags creative account of ‘Marie Claire’

Law & Kenneth, Delhi has bagged the creative account of women’s magazine ‘Marie Claire’, the Indian edition of which will be launched in Mumbai on June 2, 2006. No pitch process was involved. According to Suresh Selvaraj, Associate Publisher, Marie Claire, the spend would be close to Rs 2 crore, all activities put together.

Elucidating the reason for assigning the mandate to Law & Kenneth, Selvaraj said that the all-women team of the agency identified with the brand. He said, “It was sort of love at first sight. On a serious note, they totally identified themselves as ‘Marie Claire’ women as we unfolded our profile, brand attributes, etc. There was this instant connect that happened and they started visualising themselves as prospective buyers of the magazine. We did not need to look beyond for the sake of inviting a pitch. Thank God that our ads are talked about a lot and our conviction in them stands vindicated.”

Echoing the same thought, Charu Bakshi, Executive Associate, Law & Kenneth, Delhi, said, “We ended up winning the account because we are an all women’s team, so we understood the brand better. We understood the personality of the brand and identified with them. They understood that we could meet the requirement from our first meeting itself.”

Terming ‘Marie Claire’ as a thought-provoking magazine meant for the thinking Indian women, Bakshi said, “‘Marie Claire’ is a prestigious business for us. It’s a very interesting category. We will showcase our creative talent and will thoroughly enjoy working with them.”

The media mix for the promotions of ‘Marie Claire’ will initially include print, radio, outdoor and POPs. Electronic media was an option that would be looked at later on, informed Selvaraj.

Meanwhile, the Delhi branch of Law & Kenneth, which began its operations from April 1, 2006, has added two members in its team. Rajesh Chauhan has joined the agency as Associate Creative Director along with Ankur Baruah, who will be his partner in copy. Sharing more on the same, Bakshi said, “I welcome the best talent from the industry. I am really looking forward to building a very strong team in Delhi.”
