KSSEL to launch web-based sports channel

Krish Shrikkanth Sports and Entertainment Limited (KSSEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Chennai-based entertainment graphics major Pentamedia Graphics, is planning to launch a web-based sports channel named “Champ Channel”.

For the new channel, KSSEL has tied-up with numtv.com, a 24 hour live online multilingual portal and a division of Pentamedia Graphics.

Investment details and the launch date of the proposed channel are not yet available. KSEEL specialises in sports related entertainment and has around 300 hours of specific sports content. The company has also supplied content to satellite channels like Sun, Raj, Vijay in various languages.

According to V Chandrasekaran, chairman and CEO of Pentamedia, the existing content with KSEEL would be used to branch sports entertainment under the new business model. KSEEL would be used as a base for cricket broadcasting, developing a sports village and for the virtual coaching centre.

Pentamedia paid around Rs 45 crore or 2.25 per cent of its equity valued at Rs 500 per share for acquiring 100 per cent of KSEEL through a stock-swap method. Currently, the company through its subsidiary- Intellivision is planning to launch a kids channel- Splash before Diwali.
