JWT walks away with the Grand Effie and the Yahoo! Big Chair Award

Although Zoozoos dominated the Effie Awards 2009, the Grand Effie and the Yahoo! Big Chair Awards were bagged by JWT for its work for Bennett, Coleman & Co. The ‘Teach India’ campaign won the Grand Effie as the best integrated advertising campaign of the year. The client-agency team also won the Yahoo! Big Idea Chair Award for using digital media as an important part of their integrated campaign.

Ecstatic over the wins, Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT, said, “We are delighted to get this Award (Yahoo! Big Chair Award). We had not expected it. We already have two Yahoo! Chairs in our office, now we have the third one.” He further said, “It is more of a utility than an award.”

Talking about the criteria based on which the winner was selected, Arun Tadanki, MD, Yahoo! Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, said, “The brand that had used the Internet in a major way as part of their integrated advertising campaign was selected for this Award.”

The ‘Teach India’ campaign, which has already won many awards, bagged the Grand Effie for the Best Integrated Campaign of the Year. Rahul Kansal, Chief Marketing Officer, Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd, said, “We were hoping for this Award as we have also won many awards for this campaign at the national level.” JWT bagged the second rank in the Effie Agency of the Year tally, while Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd did not feature in the top 20 Effie Client of the Year list.
