JWT emerges agency of the year at Ad Club Calcutta Awards

JWT has emerged as the agency of the year at the Ad Club Calcutta Awards for Consumer Connect, 'Advertising Rocks,' held on April 16. Apart from the campaign of the year -Horlicks Pranchanchal - JWT won the gold and silver in the national FMCG category for Horlicks and Kellogs.

The agency also bagged golds in Durables both at the national and local levels for Hero Honda and Tata Tiscon respectively, and silver in the Public Service category for their campaign against female foeticide. .

Response became the Kolkata agency of the year with two local golds in FMCG for the Big One's icecream and Consumer Services for Times Of India matrimonials.

The national Consumer Services category was dominated by Rediffusion . Two of their Airtel campaigns -Sachin Football and Express Yourself - won the gold and silver respectively.

Percept H made its presence felt by bagging gold for the NDTV vote campaign in Public Service and silver for Maruti 800 in the Durables category .

The evening awards ceremony was preceeded by day-long presentations by the shortlisted entrants, including agency representatives from Mumbai and Delhi to an eight member panel of judges that comprised of Kurush Grant ,Santosh Desai, Pranesh Mishra, Kiran Khalap, Mohan Menon, Prabhakar Mundkur, Ram Ray and Shiloo Chattopadhay..

Interestingly in keeping with the spirit of Consumer Connect the audience was the ninth judge, with score sheets for all. The person who's ratings was closest to that of final rankings was also feted.

The other high point of the evening was induction of Ranjan Kapoor, the former O&M supremo and current WPP country manager, into the Ad Club Calcutta Hall of Fame .
