JWT awarded ‘Agency of the Year’ at Ad Club Calcutta Awards

JWT emerged as ‘National Agency of the Year’ at the Advertising Club Calcutta Creative Excellence Awards that took place on May 18 in Kolkata. The honour for the Kolkata Agency of the Year was shared by Bates David Enterprise and O&M.

Wrigley’s India, New Delhi, emerged as the National Advertiser of the Year, and its laurels included a Gold for ‘Best Continuing Campaign’, ‘Best TVC for FMCGs’, which were both won by its agency Grey Worldwide, New Delhi.

The recently launched FM station from the ABP Group, Friends FM, was crowned the ‘Kolkata Advertiser of the Year’, with its agency ‘Bates David Enterprise’ taking home several awards on account of work done for the client, including Gold for the ‘Best Press Advertising in Bengali for Consumer Services’ and ‘Best Outdoor’.

The Gold for the ‘Best Consumer Durables TVC’ went to JWT Kolkata for Century Ply, while Bates Kolkata won the award for the ‘Best Media Innovation’ for Diet Coke.

The long list of categories included areas like retail and real estate, which are seeing a lot of action in Kolkata at the moment. While a local agency 100 Watts won a Gold for ‘Best Real Estate Advertising’, that for retail went to O&M Kolkata for Steel Junction, the retail venture from Tata Steel.

This year, there were over 1,000 entries for 20 categories from all over the country, from which about 300 entries were shortlisted for consideration at the final judging. The panel of judges comprised Syeda Imam of Contract Advertising, Mohammed Khan of David Bates Enterprise, Sumanto Chattopadhyay of O&M, Ram Ray of Response, and theatre and film personality Dhritiman Chatterjee.
