Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) Asia Pacific has announced two regional leadership changes. Mark Blair, currently President of the O&M Group in Japan, will return to Hong Kong, where he will take on the role of President, Global Brand Community, Asia Pacific. Taking over from Blair in Japan will be John Goodman, currently CEO of O&M India/South Asia. Both these changes will be effective in May-June 2006, which is when the next CEO for O&M India/South Asia will be announced. This is one of the first changes in the O&M senior management in India and further announcements will be made shortly.
O&M Chairman, Miles Young, commented, “Both Mark and John are great examples of how at Ogilvy we are committed as an organisation to broadening the experience of our people and encouraging them in their career development for the next level of responsibility.”
Young further said, “It has been our experience that our senior executives move to new roles and responsibilities well, as they bring their experience and enthusiasm from various markets to their next assignments and challenges. This is a key differentiator for Ogilvy in the region – our diverse and deep bench of management resources – as we look forward to our stewardship of even stronger growth in 2006.”
Piyush Pandey, Chairman and National Creative Director, India, said, “John Goodman has been chosen for perhaps the most challenging and exciting job in the Asia Pacific region – to head Ogilvy & Mather Japan. Japan is the biggest market in Asia and is, therefore, the most important for the group. As the CEO of Ogilvy India, John has done a splendid job. He has been the perfect partner to S N Rane (COO, India & South Asia) and me. He has played a great role over the last two years in managing and improving the performance and the ability of Ogilvy India. His relentless efforts in the areas of training and development have rejuvenated this very important aspect of our business. Personally, I am going to miss a good man and a good friend.”
Goodman has been in his role in India/South Asia for three years, following a six-year stint as President of OgilvyOne Asia Pacific. Blair’s new role in Hong Kong puts him in charge of the teams, wherever they are located, that manage the major international brands handled across Ogilvy’s Asian network. Blair has been in Tokyo for almost five years, prior to which he was Regional Planning Director based in Hong Kong.
