The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) at its 10th Annual General Meeting held on August 28, 2009, elected its Board of Directors for the year 2009-10. The newly-formed IBF Board has elected Jawahar Goel as President for the fourth consecutive year. Perhaps the only other President in IBF’s history, who had continued as President for a significant period, was KS Sarma, who was then with Prasar Bharati.
NDTV’s KVL Narayan Rao and I Venkat continue to be Vice-President and Treasurer of IBF, respectively. This is the third year that Rao has been elected to this post. Venkat has been IBF Treasurer for 10 years now. Rajat Sharma, Chairman, India TV, who was earlier a co-opted member and was handing regulation, now becomes full time Director for the next three years.
The IBF members that have been elected to the Board include: Zee TV’s Jawahar Goel; KVL Narayan Rao, CEO & Executive Director, NDTV; I Venkat, Director, Eenadu TV, who has been re-elected for the next three years as he was retiring as per rotation; Baljit Singh Lalli, CEO, Prasar Bharati; Chintamani Rao, CEO, Times Global Broadcasting; G Krishnan, CEO & Executive Director, TV Today; Mahesh Prasad, Council Director, Sahara India, has also been re-elected for three years as he too was retiring as per rotation; Markand Adhikari, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Sri Adhikari Brothers; Paritosh Joshi, President - Distribution & Ad Sales, STAR India; RC Venkateish, Managing Director, ESPN Software India; and Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India.
The members that the Board co-opted include: Manjit Singh, CEO, Sony; Punit Goenka, CEO, ZEEL; Sidhharth Jain, VP and Deputy GM - Distribution and Business Operations, Turner. There have been two additional members this time, as against the three last year, which include Haresh Chawla, CEO, Network18; and Jayant M Mathew, Director, Malayala Manorama TV.
