It's awards time, and Ad Club Calcutta is set to rock today

The Mecca of Indian advertising is all set to rock. Advertising Club Calcutta, the oldest ad club in the country with a 52-year-history behind it, will hold its annual awards ceremony on Saturday, April 16. Entitled 'Advertising Rocks,' the format is a little different from the usual ad club awards and will have popular rock bands anchoring the show at the Royal Bengal Room of City Centre, a swanky new retail and hang-out address of the city.

The Ad Club Calcutta has adopted since last year a new format. The awards are more for consumer connect than creative excellence alone. Consequently, entries have been shortlisted on the basis of consumer connect scores generated through research done by Indica Research .The shortlisted entries will be given an opportunity to make a ten-minute presentation each to the panel of judges and the audience that will be attending the day-long conclave. The judges will make their decision taking into account both the research scores and the rationale/results brought out in the presentations.

This year there are over 30 shortlisted entries in four categories, namely, FMCG, Services, Durables and Public Service. The panel of judges includes among others Santosh Desai, Pranesh Mishra, Kiran Khalap, Prabhakar Mundkur from advertising and Kurush Grant of ITC.

Apart from awards in the four categories, the big draw will be the Agency of the Year Award and of course the induction of a new luminary into the Advertising Club Calcutta Hall of Fame that reads more like a who's who of Indian advertising and marketing.
