Both Madhukar Kamath and Sandeep Goyal, two of the eight nominees of IMPACT Person of the Year (IPOY) 2011, express their views on being nominated this year…
Madhukar Kamath, MD & CEO, Mudra Group; Chairman of the Organising Committee for AdAsia 2011, said that it was “honour to be recognised by the peer group and the Industry”. “I am humbled,” he added.
Sandeep Goyal, Non-Executive Founder Chairman, Dentsu India, called IPOY “a good platform” and noted that many stalwarts like Vineet Jain and Ronnie Screwvala were also on the shortlist. “Well, may the best man win,” he exclaimed.
Reacting to his nomination this year, he said, “I am actually both delighted and amused that I should make the IPOY shortlist in a year when I actually technically ‘exited’ the hurly-burly of advertising by selling my 26 per cent stake in my Dentsu India JVs!”
“What it really signals is widespread recognition (and perhaps) appreciation for the fact that economic value-creation and entrepreneurship has come of age in Indian advertising too… I created a Rs 1,200-crore agency from scratch in seven years and sold it at a very attractive valuation,” Goyal added.
