Internet kiosks in post office soon

The Department of Post is scouting for Internet Service Provider (ISP) partner to set up a network of Internet kiosks at post offices across the country.

The department is currently running 1,54,000 post offices all over the country out of which, more than 50 per cent have telephone lines and around 10 per cent are connected through virtual private network. The department has undertaken a pilot project with 200 Internet information kiosks in four states: Gujarat, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The department is looking for an ISP partner to roll out the project by early next year.
