Innocean’s Creative Director to judge ‘Innovative Competition’ category at New York Fest 2008

Innocean’s Creative Director to judge ‘Innovative Competition’ category at New York Fest 2008

Saurabh Dasgupta, Creative Director of Innocean Worldwide India, has been invited as a jury member at the New York Festival 2008. The Festival is an International Awards Group company that recognises the world’s best work in advertising and programming. Dasgupta would be in the panel for the ‘Innovative Competition’ category, which is a new category inclusion this year.

Dasgupta, who has over 12 years’ experience in different advertising agencies, has himself won the New York Festival awards twice. The first award he won in 2005 while working with Mudra in the ‘Ambient Media’ category for a creative for his client Dainik Jagran. He bagged the Silver World Medal, also in 2005, in the ‘TV-Cinema’ category for a film he made for Electrolux.

Commenting on this development, Dasgupta said, “This is not the first time that I had been invited. In 2006, too, I was a jury member for the ‘Print’ category. This year, I have been invited for the ‘Innovative Competition’ category, which involves new media like websites, microsites, online advertising, etc. The entries this year are phenomenal thanks to the Internet. I am excited to be part of this prestigious award function as a jury member.” He was also jury member at the Summit International Awards in 2006.

Vivek Srivastava, Joint MD, Innocean, said, “We are proud of this great achievement for our team member who has achieved great heights. This also highlights the great talent that we have in our organisation.”

Interestingly, Dasgupta began his career in hotel management, but after some time realised that it is not meant for him. “I went in for introspection and very quickly decided that it is not meant for me. I thought a career in advertising would be more fun,” he added.

He began his advertising career around 12 years ago with Leo Burnett Delhi, where he had worked extensively on Coke. He started out as a copy supervisor and worked there for the next two and a half years before moving on to Mudra. Dasgupta worked as a Copy Group Head in Mudra, where he rose to the position of Creative Director. He worked with Mudra for 8-9 years. He joined Innocean Worldwide India as Creative Director two years ago.
