Indiatimes throws a new challenge to competition

Indiatimes.com, the leading horizontal portal for the global Indian launched an image search service. The search draws upon an extensive index, which consists of more than 100 million evaluated images, filtered through a special process to produce more than 5 million thumbnails and hypertext links.

Indiatimes has announced an image search challenge, inviting surfers to key in certain words and compare the results with those of other Indian or international portals. In fact, the ad invites readers to see if Yahoo and Rediff even have such a feature.

The Indiatimes search has registered a massive rise in page views after incorporating this new feature, claimed the Times Internet Limited spokesperson.
