India Broadcast News signs on rmg david as its creative agency

The TV18 Group, for its foray into English news along with Rajdeep Sardesai and Sameer Manchanda – under the banner of India Broadcast News (IBN) – has roped in rmg david as its creative agency.

The account will be handled by the agency’s Delhi office. The pitch saw seven national advertising agencies present their strategies for the upcoming English news channel. The account size, according to industry sources, is around Rs 3-4 crore.

Confirming the news, Ajay Chacko, Head-Marketing, TV18, said, “We were looking for perspective and a set of people who knew what we stood for. I think rmg david came out shining on both counts. We hope to see some outstanding work from rmg david in the coming months. Their main role will be centered on creating a buzz around programming and positioning of the new channel.”

Attributing the win to several factors, Josy Paul, National Chairman and Creative Head, rmg david, commented, “When we went into the pitch, we were a bit nervous wondering if Rajdeep would grill us like he does politicians. Thankfully, he and the team gave us the freedom to speak our minds. They gave us the space to be ourselves. It helped that we had an idea that gave us a lot of energy. Together, the effect was electric. It feels fantastic when you see clients clap and nod in agreement.”

The soul of the rmg david proposition lies in a surprising strategy, insightful creatives with a larger human cause. “We had all our bases covered. We went in with a meticulously planned strategy and a trick or two up our sleeves, which made it special,” explained Venugopal Chandrasekhar, Head of rmg david’s Delhi branch.

The win is good news for the much-awarded Delhi branch of rmg david. “The Delhi office has always been the blue-eyed branch in the entire network. We have won every possible creative award internationally. Our most recent win was the three-ad entry in CA Annual, one of the most coveted books for communication in the world. Things are hotting up at rmg david Delhi. Wait and watch this space,” said a beaming Chandrasekhar.
