The Jury for the second edition of the IAA Olive Crown Awards is in place. The judging will be chaired by the International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter President, Kaushik Roy.
The Managing Committee of the India Chapter of the IAA has announced that some of the judges who will do the honours are B Ramnathkar of Umbrella Designs, Bobby Pawar of JWT, adman-turned-travel writer C Gangadharan Menon, Josy Paul of BBDO, K S Chakravarthy (Chax) of Draftfcb Ulka, Raj Nair of Contract Advertising, Raj Kurup of CreativeLand Asia, Satbir Singh of Euro RSCG India and ad-filmmaker Saumya Sen.
The Olive Crown Awards – to recognize creative excellence in the area of ‘green communication’ -- was launched at the GoaFest last year and was very well received for the cause that it stood for. This year, the scaled-up IAA Olive Crown is being held as a stand-alone event on March 3 at the Taj Land’s End, Mumbai.
With entries still pouring in, IAA has extended the last date for accepting entries to Feb 15, 2012.
The judging process will take place on February 22, 2012.
On shifting the event away from Goafest and holding it in Mumbai this year, Roy said, “We want to build up the Olive Crown Awards as a property first, let it be recognized as an awards function by itself, before taking it back to Goafest. We want the event to be like the good old Abbys.”
Last year, there were 275 entries for the awards, but the number is expected to go up this year. “The Olive Crown awards are at a nascent stage. The number of entries last year was low. However, this year, we expect it to be more known in the context of being a green organization, and therefore look forward to a lot more entries and of a higher capacity,” said C Gangadharan Menon.
HungamaDigital Media Entertainment Pvt.Ltd. is partnering the event, dedicated to the best eco-sensitive communication that creates awareness for conservation of planet earth. Participants are required to send in a 60 second (maximum) film that would encourage citizens across the world to protect the Earth. The winning entries will be awarded Olive Crowns. The Gold winner will get a cash prize of Rs 60,000 and the Silver winner Rs 40,000.
