IAA India Chapter honours green ad campaigners

The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) presented the Olive Crown Awards for excellence in Green advertising on March 3 at a function held in Mumbai.

Olive Crowns were presented to winners in 14 categories and were judged by a panel of judges that included some of the most renowned names in the advertising business. Nokia India was awarded Green Brand of the Year (created by Webchutney and JWT), while Ogilvy was awarded Green Campaigner of the Year.

Describing the awards, Kaushik Roy, Chief of India chapter of IAA, said, “We started the Awards last year and there has been good response to it. However, we are not satisfied with the number of entries received this year. But I’m sure that this only get better in the years to come.”

The Olive Crown Awards are exclusive awards in the country that celebrate excellence in communicating sustainability.

Pradeep Guha, President of the Association, said, “Olive Crown Awards are unique. Through the association, we have been able to take a lot of work of Indian advertising to the global scale.”

Recipient of the Nobel Prize and IPCC Chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri was the chief guest at the event. He said, “It is important to communicate the green message across the globe through creative advertising campaigns. That is the reason why such initiatives should be recognised.” A special Green Crusader was presented to Dr Rajendra Pachauri.
 

Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Reliance Foundation and Member of Parliament, Priya Dutt, were the Guests of Honour at the function.

The event, witnessed a heady mix of creativity, entertainment, a touch of seriousness, a dash of Bollywood and some of the biggest names in the advertising, marketing and media industry walking the ‘green carpet’.
