Hero Honda has announced the debut of yet another model from its stable in the deluxe segment, ‘Glamour’. The bike was launched in the four South Indian states yesterday, and a national launch will follow later.
On the launch of the new motorcycle brand, Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda, said, “I am sure ‘Glamour’ will further strengthen our leadership position in the Premium Deluxe segment which is currently witnessing a high growth and will continue to do so in coming years.”
Atul Sobti, Executive Director (Business Operations), Hero Honda, added, “We expect Glamour to sell 35,000-40,000 units in a short period of time." Lall added that the company was launching the new model in South India, ahead of other markets, as the region contributed to 25 per cent of Hero Honda's business.
The vehicle comes with a 125 CC ‘Quantum Core’ engine developed engine by Japanese partner Honda. Hero Honda first introduced the engine in its 125cc offering ‘Super Splendor’ launched in early 2005.
Glamour is the ninth model from Hero Honda, and claims a first-of-its-kind flush-type lock on the fuel tank in the segment. Company officials stated that the aesthetics of the motorcycle had been designed keeping in mind the desires of customers in the segment. It boasts of gen-next visors that lend an aerodynamic look, a factor strengthened by the contemporary shape of multi-reflector winkers, they said.
The motorcycle is being introduced in four variants, and will be available in 10 colour options including first time shades such as ‘Impulse Orange’ and ‘Vibrant Green Metallic.’ Priced at Rs 44,650 (for the Drum + Kick version, ex-showroom, Chennai), the bike comes with a three-year / 40,000 km warranty.
The other motorcycle brands in the Hero Honda portfolio include the Karizma, the CBZ, Splendor+, Super Splendor and Passion Plus, besides its CD series. Super Splendor, which shares the 125 CC engine used in the ‘Glamour’, is priced at Rs. 43,047 (ex-showroom, Chennai). The Splendor+ and Passion Plus are 100 CC vehicles priced just above the Rs 40,000 mark.
