Hariharan Vishwanathan joins MediaCom as Head, South

MediaCom, the joint venture between Sam Balsara and GroupM, recently announced the appointment of Hariharan Vishwanathan as the Head – South. He will report to Rathi Gangappa, COO, MediaCom India. Vishwanathan takes over the position from Sriram Sharma who is moving to Mindshare.

Talking about his new role, Vishwanathan said, “I am excited to join MediaCom and I look forward to learning and applying their systems thinking approach. Working across agencies and functions in GroupM has been an enriching experience and I am happy that I will be continuing to do just that at MediaCom.”

Vishwanathan started his career in JWT (then known as HTA) as a media planner in 1994. Since then he has worked across categories, agencies and roles in GroupM. Most recently he was part of the CTG team in GroupM.

Commenting on the appointment, Debraj Tripathy, MD MediaCom India, said, “We are happy to have someone with Vishi’s experience and calibre on board. Our business in the South has seen fantastic growth in the last few years under Sriram’s leadership. I am confident Vishi will bring renewed energy and focus to our business. I wish Sriram all the best in his new role.”
