India has achieved its best ever score of 39 points in the Gunn Report for 2007, securing the 14th place as the world’s most awarded country in the world. McCann Erickson’s TV commercial on Happy Dent Gum is the 10th most awarded commercial, while O&M’s print campaign for Indian Association For Adoption took the 12th place as the awarded print ad in the world.
The Gunn Report founded by Donald Gunn, is an independent report on advertising creativity that combines the winners’ list from all major advertising awards of the world, to bring up a list of entries that have won most number of accolades. Apart from print and TV, this year’s Gunn Report also includes online and interactive works to reflect the changing face of the industry.
According to the last year’s report, India was at 21st position, and the elevation to the 14th place this year is a signal that there is a lot more that can be expected from the Indian advertising fraternity.
India is also one of the new entrants in the list of best production companies along with Italy, the US, Great Britain, India, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Mumbai-based Equinox is the 17th most awarded production companies in the world. Ram Madhwani, a director from India, also took the 11th position in the list of most awarded directors with nine points, making India one of the new entrants under the most awarded directors’ category, along with countries like Italy, the US, Argentina, Great Britain, Canada and India.
From ninth place last year, McCann-Erickson is on eighth place this year, as the most awarded agency networks in the world. McCann Mumbai and Hong Kong are shown as the mega-star offices, supported by the agency’s other offices such as Bucharest, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and McCann Worldgroup in the US.
