The International Advertising Association (IAA) Studio – Live in Cannes, situated 100 meters from the Palais des Festivals and overlooking the beach, became the home and headquarters for the global IAA community throughout the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, 2017. As the ultimate networking space for IAA members to connect with one another, catch up on emails and relax with refreshments, the IAA cabana also played host to engaging interviews and panel discussions; bringing industry issues alive inside it.
The IAA -India Chapter held an exclusive event on Tuesday, 20th June, 2017 at the Cabana, inviting the who’s who of the Indian contingent at Cannes. The committee of hosts included IAA members Abhishek Karnani (Free Press Journal), Anand Sankeshwar (Vijayavani), Ashish Bhasin (Dentsu Aegis Network), Ashish Sehgal (Zee Unimedia), Avinash Pandey (ABP News), CVL Srinivas ( GroupM), Janak Sarda (Deshdoot), Kaushik Roy (IAA – VP and Area Director APAC), Monica Tata (BTVi), MV Shreyams Kumar (Mathrubhumi), Neeraj Roy (Hungama Digital Media Entertainment), Pradeep Dwivedi (Sakal Media Group), Pradeep Guha (IAA – VP External Awards), Ramesh Narayan (Canco India), Raj Nayak (Viacom 18), Sam Balsara (Madison World), Srinivasan Swamy (RK Swamy BBDO) and Tarun Rai (JWT South Asia). Making a big announcement on the occasion, Srinivasan K Swamy, Senior VP, IAA Global along with Kaushik Roy, IAA – VP and Area Director APAC as well as Pradeep Guha, IAA – VP External Awards, revealed to the select audience that IAA Global Management teams at their Board meeting at Cannes had decided that India is going to host the 44thIAA World Congress at Mumbai in Q4 of next year, 2018 (exact dates to be announced later) – the first time that it will be held in India. This is a proud and momentous occasion for IAA India Chapter, and the team is committed to organizing a ‘never before’ world class benchmark event that will catapult Indian Media, Advertising & Entertainment industry on to the world stage. The prime support for this endeavour comes from Reliance Jio, and the spanking new Reliance Convention Centre at BKC, Mumbai is the proposed venue. Kaushik Roy and Pradeep Guha are Chair and Co–chair respectively, of the congress steering committee. This will be the 44th edition of the IAA World Congress with global heritage and this is the first time that India will be hosting such a congress.
An eminent galaxy of leaders from the Indian industry is part of the Governing Council, led by Mukesh Ambani as chairperson. Neeraj Aggarwal, MD, BCG India along with his team, is helping IAA with the content for the Congress.
Swamy invited the entire industry to join hands and make this initiative an unparalleled success. The announcement at the IAA reception in Cannes was met with thundering applause and appreciation of all present along with firm and unified assurances of support.
