GoaFest 2009: Media Abbys gets 417 entries; 77 shortlisted after round one of judging

Over 417 entries across 13 categories have been received this year for the Media Abby Awards. The first round of judging for the media awards entries were held on March 16 in Mumbai. Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar Universal and Co-chairman, GoaFest 2009, has confirmed that 77 entries have been shortlisted for the final round of judging. The shortlist will be announced on March 17.

Speaking to exchange4media.com, Sinha said, “This year, the Media Awards are true in its sense as Media Abby Awards. More media agencies are taking part this year as compared to last year, where we had seen even creative agencies entering their media entries. However, this year the scene is different. The quality of entries has been good and I am happy to see healthy competition.”

This year, there are 34 judges to evaluate the media entries. The 417 entries were divided into four batches, creating a much fairer and less chaotic process. The Media Abby Awards will be held on April 3, 2009 during the GoaFest 2009.

Currently in its fourth year, GoaFest 2009 will be held on April 2-4 at the Cavelossim beach in Goa.

The GoaFest 2009 committee is co-chaired by Shashi Sinha, CEO, Lodestar Universal, and Suman Srivastava, CEO, EuroRSCG. The other key members of the GoaFest committee include Madhukar Kamath, President, AAAI, and MD & CEO, Mudra Group; Bhaskar Das, President, The Advertising Club Bombay, and Executive President, Bennett & Coleman Co Ltd; Ajay Chandwani, Director, PerceptH; and Subhash Kamath, Managing Partner, BBH India.
