GoaFest 2007: More for Indian media agencies to look forward to

The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) has concentrated hard on making the GoaFest a bigger and better affair in 2007. In addition to the various initiatives seen, AAAI has decided to also award excellence in media services in India, this year.

Given that at present, Indian media agencies really don’t have much that is addressing them on this count, this is a welcome change. Speaking on the institution of the media awards, Srinivasan K Swamy, President, AAAI, said, “Last year, we had just begun. This year, on the other hand, we had a lot of time to prepare and we have ensured that only the best practices are observed to make this an award to reckon with – both on industry acceptance, competitive scales and prestige of the award.”

He added, “GoaFest has already been recognised as the premier event of the advertising industry in the country. With participation from across agencies and all over India and over 2000 delegates participating, this really is the biggest fest in Asia.”

Elaborating more on the media awards, Arvind Sharma, Chairman, AAAI GoaFest Committee, elaborated, “Structurally, agencies are getting more segmented and media is an important service for advertising people. The need to concentrate on content, in terms of brand communication, is greater than ever before, and therefore it is important for us to bring in all knowledge about media.”

“We are also bringing more clients on the fest this time and I believe that this too will allow an interesting exchange of thoughts and ideas between agencies and advertisers,” said Sharma.

Commenting on the judging process, he said, “We will continue to follow the judging process, wherein industry seniors will judge the entries.”

As is known, the entry deadline for the awards has been extended to March 5, 2007. The event will be held on April 20 and 21, 2007.
