GAIL India scouts for advertising agencies

GAIL India, the state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company, is looking to empanel ad agencies to handle routine, statutory branding / non-branding communication jobs. This also includes display advertisements and other public awareness / announcement advertisements, besides designing and printing of various publications.

Last date for sending the applications is October 30, 2013. The size of the business could not be ascertained at the time of filing the report, but it is believed to be substantial.

The empanelment will be for GAIL Corporate Office as well as all work centers / plants and zonal offices in different parts of the country. The agencies shall be empanelled initially for a period of one year after which the term of empanelment can be further extended, on year-to-year basis based on the performance. Such extensions shall be for a maximum period of up to two years.

The brief scope of work includes publication of notices inviting tender, financial ads, AGM speech advertisement, recruitment advertisements, corporate advertisements, product advertisements, internet advertisements, and others.

It also includes radio Jingles and TV commercials, outdoor advertisements, event management and campaigns on behalf of GAIL, other oil and gas sector companies, and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

In order to be eligible, the agency should have a minimum annual turnover of Rs 15 crore during each of the three preceding financial years and the net worth of the agency should be positive during each of the three preceding financial years. The agency should have full and continuous INS accreditation for the last three years.

For the record, GAIL (India) was incorporated in August 1984 as a Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. It is a pioneer in City Gas Distribution (CGD) business in India, with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) in Delhi and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in Mumbai being its biggest success stories. It aspires to become an integrated hydrocarbon major with significant upstream and downstream interests by 2020.
