The second day of FICCI FRAMES 2005 emphasised the present status where laws are taking time to catch up with reality. Industry leaders deliberated on the fact that when a situation has arrived but a corresponding legislation hasn't, the need to look at the situation closely, is accentuated.
Highlight of the day - Pradip Baijal, Chairman, TRAI giving the indication that the must-provide content by channels on the DTH platform might just be the way forward. "It is the only way to attain growth today. The channels can be present on DTH in the same way as they are on the C&S platform," he said.
The other sessions gave the audience a good mix of the television and film sector and the glamour quotient was completed with the presence of the likes of Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Ramesh Sippy. Television players like the Alva brother from Miditech and Sanjiv Sharma from Optimystix shared more with the audience on what would be successful formats for television.
Film Financing and securing deals through concrete contracts and the FICCI BAF award completed the day. And what is on for today - the CEOs like Kunal Dasgupta, Rik Dovey and Ranjan Kapur sharing their views on 'What Consumers Want', a special address by Shah Rukh Khan and the wrap up with some lessons for the entertainment industry from Narayana Murthy, Chairman of the Board and the Chief Mentor, Infosys Technoloigies.
