2008 has been one of the best EMVIES years. The EMVIES Committee has informed that the plans for the next year are even bigger as the Bombay Ad Club intends to make the EMVIES an Asia Pacific event.
Apurva Purohit, Chairperson, EMVIES Committee, said, “I am hopeful that 2009 would see a lot many entries coming from countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and so on, which would make the competition stiffer. There are a lot of Indians in those markets who would like to participate in the event and this would further bolster the EMVIES.”
For her, 2008 has been a success story. She said, “It’s now been seven years for the EMVIES, and there has been a lot of learning in the journey so far. Each year, we have seen the EMVIES become bigger, both in quality and size. As far as EMVIES 2008 is concerned, it’s been a huge success because of the unity that the media industry has shown. Every year, all media agencies have continued to participate at the EMVIES and have sent as many entries as they could. It’s not about sending entries because of previous victories; they believe in the platform and they have supported it every year.”
One word of advice from Purohit to the participating agencies is that they need to improve their conversion rates from the first round of judging.
