EMVIEs 2017: Mindshare India, Star India & Vodafone India win top honours

Mindshare India won Media Agency of the Year award while Star India and Vodafone India won Client of the Year award at the 17th edition of EMVIEs 2017.

Mindshare won the Agency of the Year awards with 9 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze metals and a total points tally of 265.

Speaking about Mindshare's winning streak, Devendra Deshpande, Head, Content+ at Mindshare, said, "This is an appetite we do not want to let go of. Our cycle has always been consistent, and it starts with a lot of hunger. A month before the awards, the hunger turns into rigour which finally becomes celebration."

The secret to winning an EMVIE, he said, lies in exhaustive preparation and rehearsals. "We have got to get everything right across all aspects, be that writing the entry or getting the AV and presentation right."


He added that the true preparation begins when the team starts working on the marketing strategy for the client. The journey begins from the business challenge that clients present and the idea that germinates from there, he said. "If you look at the campaigns that won this year, be it Star India'a Ek Nayi Soch, Nike's Da Da Ding or the Bagpiper Films, most of these templates were the first time ever," he said.


Star India and Vodafone India were tied at the number one spot for Media Client of the Year award with 80 points each. Star Plus’ Ek Nayi Soch campaign won 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze metals. The Content Raid by Kabaddi World Cup 2016 and One Big Blue - Kabaddi World Cup campaigns for Star Sports won one bronze and one silver metal respectively. Preeti Mascarenhas, Principal Partner – Strategy, Mindshare, who worked on the Star India Ek Nayi Soch Campaign, called the campaign a revolution and said that the campaign stood out for many reasons, "The campaign came alive through multiple ideas through the year." Keeping the conversation alive throughout the year helped the campaign, she said.

Vodafone India’s winning campaigns included World's First Rainwater Harvesting, When Search created intent instead of addressing it! and Launching a network of the Youth, For the Youth with the Youth. Vodafone India won a total of 2 golds, 4 silver, and 2 bronze metals.
