EMVIES 2008: MindShare adjudged Agency of the Year; Maxus, Madison & Lodestar follow

EMVIES 2008 drew to a close after an evening of much pomp and fervour in Mumbai on July 28, 2008. With four Golds and eight Silvers under its belt, MindShare was adjudged the undisputed winner and declared ‘Agency of the Year’. MindShare has also bagged the TAM Media Research’s TV Research award. This includes a certificate and cash prize of Rs 50,000.

The second highest scorer was Maxus. The agency bagged four Golds and two Silvers. Madison Media and Lodestar Universal claimed the third spot with one Gold and two Silvers each. Madison Media also bagged the Special Award for Best Radio Innovation (introduced by RAM for the first time) for ‘Saffola (World Heart Day) - Radio Mumbai - Bringing Mumbai together’ campaign. Besides a Gold medal, this award includes a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

The score tally from here is MindShare- 90 points, Maxus- 51 points, Madison-33 points and Lodestar Universal- 21 points.

Madison Communications walked away with the Grand EMVIE for Saffola. The Grand EMVIE is presented to the entry that has scored the highest across all categories. Lodestar Universal bagged both the People’s Choice Awards for Best Case Study Presentation on July 21, 2008 and July 22, 2008. This award is given on the basis of the votes given by the audience to the best presented entry during the case study presentation rounds.

Organised by the Advertising Club Bombay, the EMVIES 2008 evening was brought together in partnership with NDTV Media as the Presenting Partner and Sahara One, Just Punjabi TV, Mi Marathi and Microsoft Advertising as Associate Partners.

Commenting on EMVIES 2008, Apurva Purohit, Chairperson, EMVIES Committee, said, “The EMVIES are not only about innovation or brilliance of thought, they are also about the efficacy of the entry. With EMVIES 2008, we upped the ante and introduced an even more stringent meritocracy driven judging process focusing on assessing campaigns in terms of execution, delivery, scale and business efficacy. We are pleased that Mindshare has emerged as Agency of the Year. My heartiest congratulations to them and to all the winners this evening. We have ensured that each of the wins is truly well deserved – across all our criteria.”

EMVIES 2008 saw a record number of 452 entries. Of these, 53 entries made it to the final round. The first round of judging for EMVIES 2008 was conducted on July 7, 2008 followed by the Case Study presentations on July 21 and 22.

Lodestar Universal shone at the EMVIES 2007 last year. Besides being declared Agency of the Year, the media agency had also walked away with six Silvers, three Golds, the TAM Award and the People’s Choice Award for the best media innovation in TV and Digital.
