Amongst other findings, the recently released exchange4media Indian Media Agency Report also enumerates the top spending advertisers in 2008. No surprises in the fact that Hindustan Unilever tops this list. Reckitt Benckiser follows, with Nokia at No. 3 and Pantaloons at No. 4 positions. Maruti Udyog is the fifth highest spending advertiser.

The sixth position is taken by ITC Ltd, while telecom major Bharti Airtel Ltd is in the seventh position. Reliance Communications Ltd is at No. 8, while cola majors PepsiCo and Coca-Cola India Ltd take up the ninth and tenth positions.

The exchange4media Indian Media Agency Report was done on the basis of only the measured mediums of television, radio and print. The study was carried across the top 500 advertiser/ product categories. The published copy gives the advertising spend details of these 10 advertisers and 10 more to give the top 20 advertisers.

The study also gives the top 20 planning agencies, buying agencies, most spending advertiser and product categories and the share of these between the various agencies.
