Kolkata based Dunlop India, which was recently acquired by the Ruia
Jessop fame, is set to relaunch the Dunlop brand in India which, prior
the closure of its plants some seven years back, was one of the leading
brands in the country and a high profile company.
It is reliably learnt that Dunlop is currently in the process of
advertising agency partner and several leading agencies are in the
pitch presentations are reportedly scheduled this week in Kolkata.
Said Dhrubajyoti Nandi, General Manager – Corporate Communications of
Ruia Group, “The company, while it enjoys a strong base in Kolkata, is
looking to achieve a pan-India presence on its return to the market.”
Nandi elaborated, “We will naturally try to rope in an agency that has
strong base in Kolkata. However, if we are not satisfied with the
from Kolkata agencies, we would not mind considering an outstation

communication package that is developed with our chosen agency, but
certainly aim to have a national level impact.”
Given that Dunlop has been out of the market for some time and the
its competition has made in the intervening period, the brand would
need to make a strong impact in its communication efforts if it is to
its erstwhile leadership position that was aptly encapsulated in its
strapline ‘Dunlop is Dunlop. Always Ahead.'
