Draft FCB Ulka bags creative mandate for Zee Tamil channel

Draft FCB Ulka has been assigned the creative duties of soon-to-be launched Zee Tamil channel following a multi-agency pitch. Law & Kenneth, Lowe, Salt, and McCann-Erickson were the other agencies in the fray for the business. The account size is estimated to be in the region of Rs 5 crore.

Confirming the development to exchange4media, V Chandrasekaar Barathi (Chandru), Business Head, Zee Tamil, said, “Draft FCB Ulka has successfully repositioned Zee TV, which made us choose them to work for Zee Tamil as well.”

Reacting to the win, Subramanian, Branch Manager, Draft FCB Ulka, Chennai, said that the feeling was fantastic. “We have conceptualised the entire stuff in Tamil instead of doing them in English and later translating it. You are up against some of the dominant players in this market and the challenge is to create the initial buzz and making people turn to the channel.”

Zee Tamil, part of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), would go on air from June 15. The channel is looking at a sustained launch campaign.

Also on the cards from ZEEL are a 24-hour Tamil news channel and a Malayalam general entertainment channel.
