Pradyuman Maheshwari, Senior Editor and member of the editorial board at DNA, who has been with the paper for the last one year, is taking over the editorial responsibilities of Bhaskar Group's new venture, I Media Corp Ltd (IMCL). He will take charge as Editor and Chief Content Officer of IMCL from March 12.
I Media Corp will handle the entire interactive properties of the Bhaskar Group, which includes Dainik Bhaskar as well as Divya Bhaskar's websites, the recently acquired Indiainfo and its 4567 mobile-based news offerings.
R D Bhatnagar, Business Head, IMCL, said, "It is a natural migration for any company from print to online. Maheshwari has long-standing experience in the online space. That's how we decided to get him in. IMCL will look at all the digital responsibilities of the company. We will be carrying out business on IT-enabled services, which would include Internet, the portal division, mobile, wireless, as well as digital outdoors like digital hoardings and digital displays," he said.
Maheshwari said that his earlier experience with technology and internet was one of the reasons why he chose to move to I Media Corp, besides the fact that the job appealed to him as a rather challenging one.
"As far as the news business is concerned, this is where the future lies. I think this is a great opportunity for me, and I took it up because I found it extremely challenging," he said. Maheshwari was earlier involved with the website Mid-day.com during his time at Mid-Day Multimedia. He has also worked with Aptech, and has also been well-known for his blog Mediaah, which used to report happenings on the media industry.
Arup Gupta, HR Head, DNA, said, "Bhaskar has been working towards moving to an integrated media function for a while now. It is no longer a one-off medium, but a 360-degree consumer experience. Maheshwari is an excellent resource, and it is great that we have him with our sister company itself. Right now, we are really looking for someone with expertise and we need someone strong and creative. Given the kind of profile and type of work he has done, he is an asset to us."
