Dentsu launches creative boutique ‘iki’

Dentsu India had announced earlier this year that it would launch its third agency under the banner of Dentsu Creative Impact. The company is now launching its creative design boutique ‘iki’.

The launch plans have now been set for April 13. The boutique will focus on high-end graphics and integrated design services, including web and digital design, retail and packaging design, space and exhibition design, as well as specialised application design in specific verticals.

‘iki in Japanese stands for ‘chic’. Hence, the name itself conveys the intent and mandate of the new creative boutique.

Masahiro Fukada, Senior Creative Director, Dentsu Tokyo, has relocated to New Delhi to head iki. He will work with Gullu Sen, Vice Chairman, Dentsu India. Two more highly qualified designers from Japan, who will constitute the core of the creative team, will soon join Fukada in India.

Fukada, with 27 years’ outstanding service at Dentsu, has vast experience in producing exceptional work for a variety of multinational clients, both overseas and in Japan. The clients include are from food/beverage, toiletries, automobile, home appliances, and medical industries. Over the course of his career, he has been recognised with awards from top awards shows like the London International Awards and the Clio Awards. He has also worked as Creative Director at Beacon Communications KK, which is a joint venture in Tokyo between Dentsu and Leo Burnett.

“Dentsu has consistently been at the cutting-edge of great creative work. The Gunn Report 2006 puts Dentsu at the third position in the global rankings for the most awarded agency worldwide. With iki, we wish to focus on producing top-of-the-line design products in India,” said Sen.

Dentsu Creative Impact already works with FedEx in India. iki is soon going to start work on a New Age real estate concept launch. It is also working on packaging the design for a Swiss industrial products company. Two corporate identity projects for some large Indian clients are under discussion.

“There is an abundance of good work in the area of high-end design in India today. iki will provide a global quality product at clients’ doorsteps in India. The client will get to work with global talent, and also interact at every stage of the design development. We also hope to provide a far better value equation to our clients while providing globally competitive services,” says Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Dentsu India.
