Bob Jeffrey, Chairman and CEO, JWT Worldwide was in Mumbai on October 19 to announce the appointment of Guy Murphy as JWT Worldwide’s Global Planning Director. He also discussed about the agency’s prospects in India and stressed on the importance of creating effective advertisements for the clients, rather than going after awards.
Addressing a gathering of media personnel, Jeffrey talked about JWT’s future plans for looking at newer media, including digital and mobile phones in India. He also talked about the growth of Indians in various global companies worldwide. Said Jeffrey, “Our main responsibility to our clients is to do advertising that is effective in the marketplace. Winning awards is only a secondary part of it.”
Present at the meet was Colvyn J Harris, CEO, JWT, who, while emphasising on the importance of creating global brands, said, “We can partner Indian clients for setting up businesses in International markets. It is just a matter of time when India can come out with a global brand.”
While announcing the appointment of Guy Murphy as their Global Planning Director, Jeffrey said, “Having helped introduce account planning nearly 40 years ago in London, with a department led by legend Stephen King, we have a rich legacy in this realm that continues on today across the globe. Now we have hired Guy, who will be based in London, to lead this charge.”
